A safe club is a happy club
As we know, a safe tennis environment makes tennis more enjoyable for everyone, and as part of our Safe Tennis commitment, Tennis NZ launched a National Police Vetting Service in 2023.
Police Vetting is one of the preventative safeguarding measures that reduces the risk of harm and abuse of children and vulnerable adults.
Tennis clubs, coaches, and organisations have all been using this service to help make their environments even safer.
Since the launch in June 2023 we have done some amazing mahi around the motu in continuing to keep our sport and communities safe and we thank you for your continued efforts.
In combination with the Tennis NZ Portal system, clubs and administrators can now keep track of who has been vetted, when they expire and keep on top of this important work, reassuring members and the community that they are providing a safe environment.
Police vetting is already common in many places such as schools, sports clubs, and childcare, and Tennis NZ has provided this service for certain roles for many years, but this is the first time police vetting will be required for all tennis volunteers or workers right around the country that have contact with children and vulnerable adults.
