Modernising Tennis Hub
Why Does Tennis Need to Change?
What's Driving This Change Now?
The changes we are making continue the work of the Tennis NZ's Modernising Tennis Plan, for a sport where:
everyone’s safer,
everyone’s involved,
& everyone’s connected.
These changes are a further step in our collective journey that has already delivered national benefits including Clubspark and Book a Court systems, a national participant database, Safe Tennis Register, Coach Registration and the World Tennis Number. These changes, along with the new changes we wish to introduce are designed to make the running and promoting your club easier and for the tennis system to comply with the requirements of the new Incorporated Societies Act and the Sport Integrity Act.
The previous Incorporated Societies Act dated back to 1908.
The new Act requires organisations to have stronger member processes, different mechanisms for committee members and for club officers, enhanced record keeping systems and clear dispute resolution processes.
Re-registration under the new Act is required to happen by April 2026.
Sport New Zealand is engaging with the Companies Office to make re-registration as simple as possible.
Tennis New Zealand will deliver templates for all parts of the tennis system, including tennis clubs.
