Daniell and Oswald through to semi finals in Doha

Wednesday, 10 March 2021

New Zealand doubles player Marcus Daniell and his Austrian partner Philipp Oswald have won through to the semi finals of the doubles at the ATP 250 tournament in Doha.

They have backed up their win over the Australian Open champions Ivan Dodig and Filip Polasek in the first round by beating Australian John Millman and Spaniard David Vega Hernandez in the quarter finals.

Daniell and Oswald have won 6-4 6-1 in exactly 1 hour. They saved all three break point chances against their serve and converted three from 10 break point chances on their opponents.

Daniell and Oswald will face the top seeded Colombians Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah for a place in the final.  They are the top ranked team in the world, and it will be another huge test for Daniell and Oswald who will feel confident. They have started the year well by reaching the quarter finals at the Australian Open in their best Grand Slam result together as a team.

The match will take place at 2-30am on Friday morning.
