New Zealand doubles player Erin Routliffe has made a great start to the WTA tournament in Charleston.

Routliffe and American partner Jamie Loeb have advanced to the quarter finals.

They were leading Arina Rodionova and Rosalie Van Der Hoek 6-1, 4-love when the fourth seeds retired with Dutch player Van Der Hoek retiring injured.

 Meanwhile Artem Sitak and his partner David Vega Hernandez have beaten Britain’s Lloyd Glasspool and Finland’s Harri Heliovaara at the ATP Challenger tournament in Belgrade. Sitak and Vega Hernandez have won 2-6 6-4 10-5 in 1 hour 10.  They will make Israel’s Jonathan Erlich and Belarussian Andrei Vasilevski for a place in the semis.
