Hourigan bows out in singles in Monastir

It’s all over for New Zealand number one Paige Hourigan in the singles at the ITF US $15,000 tournament in Monastir in Tunisia.

Hourigan has been beaten 6-1 6-4 by Switzerland’s Joanne Zuger. going down in straight sets to seventh seed Joanne Zuger. The match was interrupted by rain with the Swiss player leading 3-0 and Hourigan was unable to recover when they resumed, first an hour later for just three points and then after a break of nearly five hours.

The weather delays meant Hourigan’s doubles semi final has been postponed until tonight NZT. Hourigan and Australian Alex Hourigan and Osborne will meet Romanian third seeds Karola-Patricia Bejenaru and lona-Georgiana Ghioroale for a place in the final.
