Lulu Sun fights back to win in Rome

Lulu Sun has won her first round match at the Italian Open, defeating local hope Georgia Pedone 3-6 6-1 6-3.
After a tough first set where Sun suffered the only break of serve in it, Sun took control of the rest of the match against the 20-year-old, who was given a wildcard into the main draw.
Sun served superbly over the second and third sets, giving her opponent just one break point, which she wasn’t able to convert.
The match was the second time this year that Sun has fought back to win after losing the opening set.
It is also the third tournament in a row where Sun has made it to at least the second round, as she continues to pick up ranking points to stay inside the world’s top 50.
In the next round in Rome, Sun will play against another Italian, Jasmine Paolini, who is the No 6 seed and given Paolini’s popularity, this match is sure to be played on one of the show courts at the Foro Italico.
Sun and Paolini have never played against each other before.
The men’s and women’s doubles draws for the Italian Open are yet to be released.
