Michael Venus, Neal Skupski into Vienna semifiinals

Michael Venus and Neal Skupski are through to their first semifinal since Wimbledon defeating the No 2 seeds in a thrilling quarterfinal in Vienna.
The New Zealand/ British team defeated Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden 6-7(7) 6-4 10-8 in a match that lasted one hour and 34 minutes.
In the third set super tiebreak, Venus and Skupski led 4-2 at the first change of ends, went on to be up 7-3 and had their first match point at 9-6.
The next two points were won on Bopanna’s serve, but on the next match point, Venus hit a huge serve out wide which Ebden couldn’t get back.
Venus and Skupski hit the ground running when they started playing together at the beginning of the grass court season, winning tournaments in Queens and Eastbourne before their deep run at Wimbledon.
They also made the quarterfinals of the US Open, but had two first round losses during the Asian swing.
However, they have got back to winning ways in Europe and in the semifinals will play against the Argentinian duo of Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni.
Gonzalez and Molteni caused an upset in the quarterfinals, knocking out the No 4 seeds Nathaniel Lammons and Jackson Withrow.
