Perfect start to grass court season for Lulu Sun

Lulu Sun made an impressive start in her first match of the grass court season with a convincing 6-1 6-3 win over Anouck Vrancken Peeter in ’s-Hertogenbosch on Monday.
In what was her first match on the surface since last year’s Wimbledon quarterfinal, Sun defeated the local Dutch hope in 69 minutes.
Sun was able to break her opponent’s serve five times over the match and always looked in control as she marched through to the second round.
It’s a big few weeks for Sun, as she builds up her match play on grass ahead of the third grand slam of the season and returns to the place she has so many great memories of from last year, including that victory over Emma Raducanu on Centre Court.
Although she will face tougher players than Vrancken Peeter, this was a confident start for the 24-year-old, who is the seventh seed in ’s-Hertogenbosch.
In the second round Sun will play the winner of the match between Bianca Andreescu from Canada and Chinese Taipei’s Joanna Garland, which will be played on Tuesday.
