Routliffe cruises into another WTA doubles final
Erin Routliffe has won through to another WTA doubles final and will surge to another career high ranking next week.
The 26-year-old who made the third round of the doubles at the US Open in New York with singles runner up, Canadian Leylah Fernandez, is through to the double’s final at the WTA tournament in Luxembourg.
Teaming up with Belgium's Kimberley Zimmerman, they have beaten the Russian pair of Vitalia Diatchenko and Yana Sizikova 6-4 6-2 in 1 hour and 12 minutes.
They will face the Belgian pair of Greet Minnen and Alison Van Uytvanck for the title. Routliffe entered the US Open with a ranking of 108 and she improved to 78 after her run in New York.
She is projected to climb to 66 by making the final and will improve to around 61 if she and Zimmerman win the title.
Artem Sitak and Antonio Sancic are through to the double’s final at the ATP Challenger tournament in Istanbul. They have beaten played Ruben Gonzales from the Philippines and American Hunter Johnson 4-6 6-2 10-5 in 1 hour 06.
Meanwhile Ajeet Rai is through to another double’s final at an ITF tournament in Monastir in Tunisia. Rai and his partner Li Tu have beaten Lorenzo Claverie and Giorgio Ricca 6-4 6-4 in an hour and 18 minutes.
