Routliffe, Dabrowski reach Cincinnati quarterfinals

Erin Routliffe and Gaby Dabrowski have come through another tight match to reach the quarterfinals of the Cincinnati Open.
In their second round match on Tuesday (Wednesday NZ time), the second seeds defeated Giuliana Olmos from Mexico and Indonesia’s Aldila Sudjiadi 3-6 7-6(2) 10-7.
It was a match Routliffe and Dabrowski gradually worked their way into, having had their serve broken twice in the opening set.
Although the second set was tight, they dominated the tiebreak and used their experience in the super tiebreak.
What made this victory more impressive for Routliffe and Dabrowski was that they were able to get the win despite Olmos and Sudjiadi winning five of the six deciding point deuces.
In the quarterfinals, Routliffe and Dabrowski will play the winner of the match between Shuko Aoyama and Cristina Bucsa against Caty McNally and Linda Noskova.
Last year Routliffe won the tournament in Cincinnati with her good friend Asia Muhammad. At that time, Dabrowski was continuing her treatment for breast cancer.
