Another top performance by New Zealand's Erin Routliffe and Canadian Gaby Dabrowski at the Australia Open.
The fourth seeds and US Open champions are through to the semifinals of the women's doubles after a 7-5 6-2 victory over Spaniard Cristina Bucsa and Russian Alexandra Panova in 1hour 20 minutes.
The match started with breaks of serve for both sides before the Kiwi - Canadian pair grabbed the final and deciding break off Bucsa's serve in the 12th game.
The second set was more straightforward with two breaks in the second and eighth games in favour of Routliffe and Dabrowski.
"We knew we were going to have to come out and be aggressive and play our games. We did a great job of that and we're really happy," said Routliffe.
Reaching the semis in Melbourne means they share A$227 5500 in prize money.
They will now face 11th seeds, Lyudmyla Kichenok  (Ukraine) and Latvia's Jelena Ostapenko for a place in the final.
The quarterfinal win will likely take Routliffe from her current high ranking of nine to a new career-best of six.
