Venus and partner defeat Djokovic and Kyrgios in Brisbane

Michael Venus and Nikola Mektic have defeated the all-star lineup of Novak Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios at the ATP tournament in Brisbane.
Venus and his new partner, defeated Djokovic and Kyrgios 6-2 3-6 10-8 in a second-round match that was box office entertainment at the packed out Pat Rafter Arena.
Kyrgios is making his way back onto the tennis circuit and his great friend, Djokovic agreed to team up with him for the doubles.
They were given a wildcard to enter the draw and looked to be in a good position make it through to the quarterfinals against the tournament’s top seeds, as they held a comfortable lead during the third-set super tiebreak.
But Venus and Mektic chipped away at that lead and crucially Djokovic double faulted when serving at 8-6. Venus and his 36-year-old Croatian partner won the next two points and on the first match point Kyrgios put a serve from Venus into the net.
In the quarterfinals Venus and Mektic will play against the all-British duo of Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool.
