Friday, 06 November 2020

Michael Venus and his Australian partner John Peers have lost a tight quarter final at the Paris Masters and now must wait to see if Venus is successful in changing his quarantine voucher to see if he’s able to play at the ATP Finals in London.

Venus and Peers have been beaten 4-6 7-5 11-9 by Canadian Felix Auger-Alliassime and Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz. It was a match of few chances and Venus and Peers converted their only break point chance in the first set. Their young opponents who are renowned singles specialists broke once from five opportunities.

The match tie break was close, and Venus and Peers saved a couple of match points but couldn’t save a third.

Venus is booked to fly out of Paris for New Zealand on Tuesday night to enter quarantine. He is still waiting to see if he has been able to change his voucher and leave after the ATP Finals in London which start on Sunday week the 15th of November and go to the 22nd of November.
