Join The Athlete Leadership Committee

Thursday, 26 June 2025

We’re reaching out to invite you to be part of an exciting new initiative — the formation of an Athlete Leadership Committee made up of performance tennis players of national and international level, who are passionate about the future of our sport.

This committee will play a key role in shaping the athlete experience, providing insight, feedback, and leadership to help improve tennis in New Zealand and beyond. We’re looking for players who are committed to contributing to the sport off the court — individuals who want to leave a lasting impact and help drive positive change for current and future athletes.

Being part of the Athlete Leadership Committee isn’t just about giving back to the sport – it’s also a powerful opportunity for your own growth.

You’ll build connections with a wider network of athletes and administrators, expand your leadership skills, and engage with other driven, like-minded individuals. It’s also a great chance to open doors for post-sport opportunities – from future employment to involvement in the wider sporting ecosystem.

Joining the committee is a way to make an impact and invest in your own development

To support this work, we’ve partnered with the Athlete Leaders Network (ALN), a professional organisation dedicated to helping athletes lead effectively. They will guide and support the committee as it establishes itself and begins its work. Attached is a one-pager which provides a summary of what ALN do.

If you are someone who:

Cares deeply about the direction of tennis and athlete welfare,
Is interested in representing the athlete voice, and
Wants to develop leadership skills alongside a motivated group of peers
We would love to hear from you. We are looking for a minimum of 5-6 players age 16+ to create an effective committee.

Please email [email protected] by 26th July to express your interest or to ask any questions.

We look forward to working with a committed group of athletes to help shape the future of tennis together.
