Tennis NZ Membership And Delivery Structure
What Has Changed & What Are The Benefits?
With the adoption of the Tennis New Zealand Constitution in December 2024, the structure of our membership and delivery has changed.
To provide more consistent support for clubs into the future, the new structure has refreshed the roles and responsibilities of our system. Delivery of services at a national level continue to be a core role for Tennis New Zealand, and include things like the Clubspark member management system, National Programmes like Tennis HotShots, and coach education and development. Services at a regional level include delivery of interclub, co-ordination for events like Love Tennis, and general hands-on support to club administrators.
The link below shows an outline of national and regional services. These are the services which provide value to clubs for the affiliation fees charged.
The new structure comprises of regional and local roles:
- Regional Tennis Organisations (RTO) - lead the overall delivery of services across clubs in their region, and
- Local Tennis Partners (LTP) - work alongside an RTO to deliver a subset of services to their local region
Tennis New Zealand work closely with the Regional Tennis Organisations to help them support the growth of tennis. There are 18 Regional Tennis Organisations across the country, with 10 Local Tennis Partners, ensuring the delivery of the sport reaches all corners of the country, and Tennis NZ has direct connection to that delivery to provide the ongoing support needed.
The benefits of the new structure are:
- Greater clarity on who is providing what support services to clubs.
- More organisations now directly supported by Tennis New Zealand to bring available platforms and services to clubs.
- Greater geographic spread of organisations providing feedback about the needs of clubs, and having a say in the direction of tennis in New Zealand.
"Our collaboration across the Waikato Bays Associations has worked well and in the new structure we can keep doing what we've been doing, but individually our organisations will be more plugged in to what national services are available"
Rob Nauman, Chair, Tennis Western Bay Of Plenty
"The new structure provides more clarity on the role our organisation has to grow tennis, and how we go about that with the support of Tennis New Zealand"
Gavin Mockford, Chair, Tennis Otago
How My Club Is Supported
Tennis NZ, your Regional Tennis Organisation, and any Local Tennis Partner, work together to support your club’s success. Here’s how:
National Delivery: Tennis NZ provides the big-picture tools, resources, and programmes that help clubs across the country, including technology platforms, coach education, national competitions, and advocacy.
Regional Delivery: your Regional Tennis Organisation, together with any Local Tennis Partner, work directly with your club, ensuring you have what you need for everyday operations, sustainability and growth. This includes support with events, club administration, and access to local and national programs.
