Semi-finals time at World Tennis Tour: Wellington

It's semi-finals time at the Renouf Tennis Centre in the capital, with seven New Zealand players still in the hunt for a doubles title at the ITF World Tennis Tour: Wellington.

George Stoupe and Reece Falck beat fellow Kiwis Isaac Becroft and James Watt 6-4, 7-6 on Thursday.

They will now play Joshua Charlton from Australia and Emile Hudd from Great Britain for a place in the doubles final.

In the other men's semi-final, Marcus Daniell and Finn Reynolds will play Corban Crowther and his Australian partner Tai Sach.

Daniell and Reynolds beat New Zealanders Nick Beamish and Anton Shepp 6-2, 7-5.

And Crowther and Sach beat Australians Cade Birrell and Sam Ryan Ziegann 7-6, 3-6, 10-6.

In the women's doubles, Elyse Tse and her Thai partner Lunda Kumhom beat Japanese team Mao Mushika and Hikaru Sato 7-6, 2-6, 10-5 to make it through to the semi-finals.

They will now play the Japanese pairing of Yui Chikaraishi and Nanari Katsumi.

In the other women's semi-final, Jade Otway and her Australian partner Catherine Aulia will play Ella Simmons and Belle Thompson from Australia.

Otway and Aulia beat New Zealand's Monique Barry and her Australian partner Alicia Smith 7-5, 6-4 in the quarters.

No New Zealanders have made it through to the singles semi-finals.

George Stoupe lost 0-6, 4-6 in the quarters to Australian Jacob Bradshaw, and Corban Crowther lost 1-6, 4-6 to American Matt Kuhar.

Renee Zhang fought hard after losing the first set, but eventually went down 3-6, 7-6, 3-6 to Mercedes Aristegui from Spain.

The ITF World Tennis Tour: Wellington is a professional tournament for men and women, with official WTA and ATP world ranking points up for grabs and a combined prize pool of US$30,000.

The final eight players fighting for the men's and women's singles titles are Jacob Bradshaw (AUS), Matthew Dellavedova (AUS), Matt Kuhar (USA), Jayden Court (AUS), Michaela Bayerlova (CZE), Mao Mushika (JPN), Mercedes Aristegui (ESP), and Hikaru Sato (JPN).
